Most of you are well aware of worsening mental health worldwide as a result of the Covid lockdowns beginning in 2020. The global prevalence of anxiety and depression increased by 25% in this period, according to the World Health Organization.*
In the past three years I have people of all ages come to my office with first-time occurrences of anxiety and depression. Colleagues have reported the same—individuals with no prior clinical symptoms are needing help.
Regardless of your opinion over the lockdowns and restrictions, one thing is true: Covid and lockdowns have disrupted our lives like nothing before.
So now that the “dust has settled” (mostly), I’d like to pose a few questions for you and for me:
Are you feeling anger at the ways your life was disrupted by Covid? Or fear about what may be next?
In what respects did your relationships suffer? Were family relationships damaged by disagreements over how to respond to the virus?
Was your faith in the medical establishment and government damaged in any way? Are you more or less likely to believe government warnings?
These are a few of the things I have been wondering about. If you have interest, please write me at [email protected] to let me know your experiences.
See you next month!
Mark
